Staff Spotlight: Traditional Holiday Treats with a Twist

Meet Stephen, Our Pastry Chef

Born into a southern family with generations of history in the baking industry, our pastry chef, Stephen, knows a thing or two about holiday treats. When we started planning our specials menus for December, Stephen decided to share a couple of his favorite and most memorable family recipes with us.

Rum Raisin Spice Cake

Rum raisins, ginger, cloves, cinnamon, and molasses combine to make this sweet and spicy holiday dessert. The cake is baked and served in a skillet and is topped with a hard brandy sauce that slowly melts into the cake as it warms up. This cake has always been one of Stephen’s favorites at Christmas time. – URBANBrew and BBQ

Graham Cracker Christmas Cake

This is a unique Christmas cake that Stephen’s Grandmother used to make every year. Later, his mother continued the special tradition. Despite owning their own bakery, this cake was never sold to customers. It was reserved only for family. This year, Stephen decided to share his secret recipe so that patrons at URBAN Comfort could enjoy this one-of-a-kind treat. – URBAN Comfort

If you get a chance to stop in to try our specials this month, remember to save room for dessert!
